Larry received his undergraduate degree from Boston University in 1951, and his his law degree in 1954, also from Boston University. After two years of serving his country in the United States Army, Larry returned home and entered into the private practice of law, splitting his time between his hometown of Boston and Hull, Massachusetts – where he and his family spent many of their summers.
He eventually settled full time in Hull, where – as a sole practitioner working out of an office in the basement of his home – Larry steadily built a respected legal practice that became the foundation for what is now the six-attorney firm known as Kellem & Kellem, LLC.
In the early years of his practice Larry represented the Town of Hull in various capacities including: associate counsel to the Board of Selectmen;counsel to the Municipal Lighting Plant; legal advisor and counsel to the school committee and the building department,;and the town’s tax title attorney. Larry quickly became known as one of Hull’s most well-respected and experienced attorneys.
In 1984 Larry welcomed his son Steven to the practice, joined in 1988 by Larry’s other son, David. The family firm of Kellem & Kellem grew their practice and their areas of expertise, expanding its scope to include condominium law and all phases of residential development.
Larry became of counsel to the firm in 2006, and continues to serve in this capacity as the firm’s senior advisor.
During over 55 years as an attorney Larry has served many roles in philanthropic, community, and social circles that continue to this day. Larry is an avid gardener and lives in Hull with his wife of almost 50 years Cynthia, a retired Hull School teacher.
